NEW GADGETS

VERTU TI FERRARI

The limited edition VERTU Ti Ferrari combines Vertu’s pioneering design, modern technology and luxury services with bespoke Ferrari materials and specially curated Ferrari content; only 2,013 of these luxurious, handcrafted VERTU Ti Ferrari phones will be released.

Authentic Ferrari materials have also been integrated into the design, lending both a luxury experience as well as functional benefits; the handset is wrapped in the same finely stitched Ferrari leather that adorns the car’s cabin. Metal elements are protected by a DiamondLike Coating (DLC) similar to that used to protect the engine components of the F12 Berlinetta.

XPERIAZ1

Built with the latest Sony Bravia technology optimised for mobile devices, the Xperia Z1 incorporates a high-resolution 5-inch full HD Triluminos display with X-Reality for mobile picture engines. It combines a large 1/2.3 inch 20.7MP Exmor RS for mobile image sensor, and intelligent BIONZ for mobile image-processing engines. Running on Android 4.2 Jelly Bean, the phone sports a sensor with an f/2.0 aperture called ‘‘G Lens’’, and is powered by a 2.2GHz Snapdragon 800 processor, boasting 2GB of RAM, 16GB of storage and a 3000mAh internal battery. The Z1 is certified to IP standards for dust and water resistance.

CYBER-SHOTQX10ANDQX100

The QX10 and QX100 are new point-and-shoot cameras by Sony.

Instead of a built-in LCD, framing, image review, configuration and even storage are all handled on another device, your smartphone. These lenscameras mount directly on a handset, pairing with Sony’s PlayMemories Mobile app via Wi-Fi, which can be run on both iOS and Android platforms.

The QX100 is larger than the QX10 despite its more limited focal length. The reason for the discrepancy is a generous 1-inch 20-megapixel sensor, and a higher-quality f/1.8-4.9, 3.6x Carl Zeiss lens to match. The QX10, however, sports a 1/2.3-inch 18.9MP ExmorRCMOS 1/2.3-inch sensor with a 10x optical zoom and Sony G lens. It also features built-in Optical SteadyShot image stabilisation. Video is captured in high-definition 1080p.

HTCDESIRE500

The HTC Desire 500 is powered by a quad-core 1.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 200 processor coupled with 1GB of RAM. The phone sports a 4.3-inch WVGA (480x800 pixels) display and 4GB built-in storage that can be expanded up to 64GB with the help of a microSD card. An 8MP rear camera is accompanied by an LED flash and a 1.6MP front camera. The device can record videos at 720p and also features Beats Audio. The phone comes with a 1,800mAh battery that HTC claims will deliver up to 17.8 hours of talk time and 401 hours of standby time. It runs on Android 4.2 with Sense 5.0 on top.
